Communications Intern – Equatorial Guinea

About the role

The UNFPA Equatorial Guinea Country Office is looking for a Communications Intern to support its communications work. Reporting to the Communications focal point under the guidance of the UNFPA Representative, the intern helps communicate programme results and promote UNFPA's mandate among government institutions, development partners, civil society, young people and the wider public. The work combines content development, digital communication, event visibility, media monitoring and organisation of communication assets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and edit communication products in Spanish, such as human-interest stories, short articles, web and social media copy, event briefs and visibility materials
• Document Country Office activities through photos, short videos, interviews and event summaries, with consent and safeguarding
• Plan and schedule digital content linked to UNFPA priorities, international observances and programme milestones
• Support media monitoring and keep records of press coverage, photos, videos and branding materials
• Help arrange communication and visibility for meetings, campaigns, field visits and public events
• Adapt key messages for different audiences, including young people, partners and the public
• Support basic communication analytics and periodic summaries of outreach and engagement
• Apply UNFPA branding and visibility guidance correctly in draft materials

Required profile

• Enrolled in a first university degree (at least one full academic year completed) or a postgraduate degree, or recently graduated and able to start within one year; or enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee programme
• Interest in international development and UNFPA's mandate
• Fluent written and spoken Spanish; working knowledge of English or French is an asset
• Integrity, discretion, initiative, attention to detail and ability to work in a multicultural environment

Required skills

• Clear writing in Spanish and basic research skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office
• Experience in writing, social media, photography, video, graphic design, event communication or volunteer communications is desirable
• Familiarity with Canva or similar content-creation tools is an asset

Interns do not receive a salary; a stipend may be available to cover basic daily expenses depending on UNFPA policy. Interns are responsible for their own accommodation and travel, and must hold valid medical insurance for the full duration of the internship.
